North West Air Ambulance

November 21, 2017

A very interesting talk was given by Victor Crawford a volunteer for the North West Air Ambulance. As we have 2 helicopters based at City airport Barton and regularly see them flying over it was interesting to hear about the cost of keeping the service going, fuelling alone costing £600 for 3 missions !  The Doctors are funded by the NHS and the Pilot , usually ex military, is paid but the rest of the costs have to be raised by public donations.

It's a fantastic public funded service which you hope you will never need , but it's reassuring to know we have this service to improve survival in severe emergency situations.
