Welcome to IRLAM

And the Friends of the Station

We’re a bunch of enthusiastic local residents who are dedicated to improving the station's grounds and services, creating a community space at the heart of Irlam and Cadishead. We’re not all train enthusiasts, but we do all share a passion for developing the station into a hive of community activity. From organising community events to planting seasonal flowers, over the year we ensure that the station is keeping up appearances.

The Old Station House was restored in 2015, breathing life back into a once-derelict building and reigniting a local interest to create a space everyone can enjoy. We’re on a mission to improve the disabled access to the station, improve community engagement and ensure that Irlam Train Station remains the prettiest station on the line.

We’re always welcoming new members to our group, so explore our website and discover how you can share your ideas and get involved. You can join us every last Wednesday of the month at 7 pm at the station. We’re based in the Coal Yard meeting room.
